The refugee situation has been exacerbated by a lack of funding and humanitarian aid. Ukraine used to be a major source of wheat and grains globally. Production has been disrupted by the fighting, leading to food crises in many developing countries such as Egypt, Yemen and sub-Saharan Africa. Hospitals and schools have been destroyed, deteriorating healthcare and education for millions of people. In addition, there have been increasing reports of war crimes, including the targeting of civilians and critical infrastructure.
