Abstract

The family is the basic building block of society and the most important pillar because it represents the main nucleus of it, and its continuity and survival means the goodness and prosperity of society. It is  true that  Islamic religion gave great importance to the family, as it had the credit and precedence in caring for it, and then the personal status laws came with solid foundations to protect the family, starting from the sermon and ending with  alimony and the will, But it may happen sometimes that things get confused between the basis of the family, which is the husband and the wife, then soon each of them tries to correct what was issued by him in order to preserve the marital bond in general, so he tries to return to his behavior in an attempt to fix the defects.

In this research, we will deal with Li'an  and the provisions of resorting to it by referring to the statement of that in Islamic jurisprudence and the statement of the position of the comparative personal status laws, which are the Iraqi,  The Jordanian and Emirati.
